And in fact, when the first ship was unloaded, coal was sent to the storage area at peak rates above 2800 tons per hour. It’s another success project for Webb, a global company that is dedicated to providing the industry with the most reliable coal handling systems.

Belledune power station is a 450 MW coal-fired power generation station for Energie NB Power in Belledune, New Brunswick, Canada. This station relies on coal brought in by ship for operation. Coal is transported from the ship unloader through nearly 2 miles of gallery, 5 transfer houses and the crusher building by seven 5-foot wide belt conveyors. Coal is conveyed to either the concrete stackout tower for outside storage or to the covered storage area. Once in storage, the coal can be recirculated between storage areas or reclaimed to the boiler house by a system of 7 belt conveyors and 2 en masse conveyors.

Major structures and equipment include: 2.5 miles of belt conveyors, 1.8 miles of gallery, five transfer houses, crusher building, concrete stackout tower, vibrating feeders, tramp iron detectors, magnetic separators, belt weigh scales, coal sampling system, frozen coal cracker, double roll crushers, surge weigh bin, two en masse conveyors, dust collectors, furnace ash and pyrites removal system, fire protection and sprinkler system.

One of the main things you need to do to combat moss is improve drainage and irrigation of your lawn. Check out your local garden supply store and get some ‘feed and weed wit moss killer’ product. Apply this to your lawn as per the instructions and after a couple of days you will find that your lawn has developed unsightly patches of black and brown. This is a good thing because it means that you have managed to kill the moss. The bad thing is that you now have some work to do, because to improve the chances of grass becoming dominant in your lawn you need to remove the dead moss. Use a rake of some description to remove it. This will give more chance for your grass to develop. This process of removing moss and other debris from the lawn is known as scarifying.

It is worth also occasionally aerating your lawn. The process of aeration involves making lots of holes all over the lawn to improve drainage. If the underlying soil of your lawn doesn’t drain that well then it may be beneficial to brush over a mixture of sand and soil to cover the hole. This will help prevent them getting clogged up later, putting you back to square one with regard to drainage.

On top of weeding, aerating and scarifying, there are other things you should be doing on a regular basis. All of us who take pride in the appearance of our lawns mow them regularly but you should ensure that you also catch or collect the clippings because if you don’t then the build up of dead grass clippings on the lawn will encourage the formation of moss.

Another problem that you may have with keeping your lawn looking healthy is related to the insect World. Some insects cause serious damage to lawns and they are more common than you might imagine. However, normally nature tends to find a way to balance the good and the bad and so if possible it is desirable to let her get on with it rather than interfering with insecticides etc as you may end up killing beneficial insects as well as the more destructive ones. However, if the problem is getting out of hand you may have to resort to this course of action. If you do, then my preference would be to use low toxicity products that aren’t going to cause problems for animals that may wander across your lawn or worse still children who want to play on it.

Finally, the one thing as well as sunshine that a lawn needs to grow is water. Even if it rains periodically where you live you still may not be getting enough water on your lawn and so you may have to invest in a hosepipe and sprinkler to get the job done. Make sure though that you tackle the moss, weed and aeration problem first as otherwise the water you add may simply run off the surface rather than soak down to the roots where it is needed. Occasionally adding some lawn feed to the water will also be beneficial and will substantially improve the colour of your lawn. Don’t overdo it though as too much of a good thing can also cause problems as with any plant.

Whatever products you decide to use on the lawn, always make sure you read and follow the instructions on the package.

Take the common soup can. By removing the top AND bottom lids, this cylinder becomes a useful starting pot. Removing the top and bottom lids will help aid in the removal of your plant start with greater ease. Now, don’t throw away those lids! The lids can be placed at the base of light loving plants, such as tomatoes! The lids will reflect sunlight, thus providing extra light. In addition, the reflected light has been shown to repel plant eating insects and aphids. To deter birds from your fruits trees, punch holes in the lids and hang them from tree branches. Apparently the reflected light and movement scares these rascals away.

Another “green” idea for recycled starting pots are used, washed, individual jello or pudding containers! They are just the perfect size to start individual plants! It is also wise and frugal to wash and reuse any and all previously purchased vegetable or plant containers. It is important to wash the containers out, and even use a mild bleach solution, to kill any bacteria or pest that may have hitched a ride with the previous “owner”.

Styrofoam or plastic trays from pre-packaged meats make excellent holders for peat pots or pellets. They are also practical holders for your individual plant starts and help prevent water from getting on your window sill or potting bench. Pre-packaged dinners, such as lasagna, come in perfect containers in which you can convert to a medium for starting various herbs or vegetables.

One gallon plastic milk jugs have a variety of uses. The milk jug can be either used as an individual miniature green house, or, by just using the top 2/3rds of the jug, you can make your own “hot” caps for tomatoes or peppers. I have also used the extra plastic to make plant markers. With a “sharpie” and a plastic marker, I have a winning combination…all water resistant so I don’t forget what I planted and where!

Popsicle sticks are another excellent choice for garden stakes or plant markers. I even keep the plant markers from the previous garden season.  I just simply reuse them if it is the same type of plant or I turn the marker over and write on the back the new vegetable I am growing!

Instead of going to the land fill, raked leaves, lawn clippings, spoiled hay, etc., can and should be used for mulching around individual plants and on garden pathways. As you can see, there are many practical, useful, and helpful applications that can be employed in your backyard garden from “recycled” items.  By employing these “green” tips in your garden, you will not only improve the environment, but you will greatly enhance your “green” thumb!

New golf equipment is very nice to have and the improvements in technology do help you to play better, but only to a certain extent.

The clubs are only the tool golfers use to play golf. The method or skill behind using the clubs effectively are entirely dependant on the golfer’s ability.

So why is it that many golfers buy new clubs rather than invest in golf lessons? I’ll tell you why. It all comes down to image. If you are seen with the latest and best golf clubs, most people assume you to be quite a good player because you look the part. That is until you swing the club. Then the truth comes out and you turn out not to be as good as you appeared to be.

This is a problem. I’m not saying don’t buy new golf clubs. Of course you must try have the best equipment available. All I am saying is that you should consider taking some lessons to get the maximum benefit and satisfaction from your clubs.

There are many different lessons you can have. They range from personal one-on-one lessons with a recognised teaching PGA Pro, or buying books and dvds that explain graphically how to play better golf.

PGA Pro’s are wonderful coaches to have as they are all pretty good players and will help you to correct your swing to play better. The only problem is that they cost a lot of money to hire and are not always available when you need them.

Instructional books and dvds are the next best thing to have. The benefits of having them are as follows. You buy them once off, they don’t cost a fortune, they provide great step-by-step instruction and are available for you to refer to whenever you need them. There are many excellent golf instructional dvds and e-books on the market today that can potentially teach you a lot more about he game of golf than any PGA Pro could and these books and dvds cover a wide range of topics to do with golf improvement.

So here is a a tip for all amateur golfers who wish to improve their game the cost effective way. Buy golf instructional dvds, e-books and training aids and after watching or reading them practice what they teach at a driving range. If you still struggle with a particular aspect of your game after that, then go visit you local PGA Pro for additional help.
